Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LLCPO) arrested two persons reportedly buying alcoholic beverages and another person selling them. Authorities confiscated 121 boxes of alcoholic beverages worth more than P90,000 at Noeh Store Purok Ube, barangay Gun-ob 4:05 pm, Sunday. Police also confiscated two motorcycles and a truck allegedly used by the suspects.

City mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan who joined the operation, said they arrested suspected buyers Baltazar Oloverio Arenas, 32, businessman and Ronnie de la Rosa Toribio, 37, and unemployed. Authorities also arrested suspected seller Tony Caballero Canedo, 22, from Purok Ube, barangay Gun-ob. Authorities confiscated 10 boxes of Vino Kulafu with a total amount of P7,700.00; two units motorcycles: a Honda XRM 125 and Kawasaki Fury from Arenas & Toribio.

The joint-team also confiscated 111 boxes of Vino Kulafu from Cañedo and his canter truck where the Kulafu boxes are loaded. Total confiscated liquor (Vino Kulafu) from three suspects is 121 boxes worth P93,170.00. Lapu-Lapu city police director, Col Carlito Baja said they filed disobedience complaint against suspects or violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code, in relation to mayor’s Executive Order banning alcohol during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) period.

After receiving a tip via phone call, Lt Col Mark Gifter Sucalit immediately went to the crime scene with the mayor and chanced upon the transaction about to be completed. Mayor and police team immediately confronted the suspects and confiscated the alcoholic beverages and their vehicles. Mayor said this is a clear violation of his order banning the sale and purchase of alcoholic beverages during ECQ. PIO
